Since it’s Halloween 🎃 I thought I’d kick things off with a crystally collab I did with Good Vibes Cookie Co (aka my friend, Jodi) in 2020 🍪🔮💀

In honor of elections, Halloween and Dia de los Muertos happening the same week- Jodi watercolored RBG t-shirts for me to dye in my {crystal cracked} Geode pattern, and a custom colorway. And she painted a very special batch of coordinating sugary-skull crystal cookies… all one of a kind, and frankly way too gorgeous to eat.

The first of many moons, slowly made over many months— under-dyed, marbled, over-dyed, watercolored and hand stitched until it felt ✨ complete ✨. Equally, and differently, good inside out.

Before beginning ↓ I only knew that I would use the color blue- and I wanted the piece to be colorful, yet soft and subdued. I leaned into my favorite neutrals, and dyed the robe over multiple processes with varying techniques. I love how the different layers of color and texture came together to create such a lovely flow.

I didn’t get much dyeing done in October, because I was busy with another studio project. It’s itty-bitty… but I’m so excited to have a newly finished, natural dye garden of my very own! With the help of Sarita Jaccard we took this underutilized corner of the world and added:

✨ raised steel garden boxes (with drip irrigation) filled with organic soil, dahlias, marigolds and calendula

✨ lots of mulch and carex pansa

✨ a tumbling composter

✨ climbing jasmine + sage

✨ and the prettiest bowl a garden hose has ever lived in

I’ve also got lots of space to hang/rest pieces fresh out of dye baths, and air dry finished items (which is way better for the fibers and the 🌎). I guess it’s handy that it’s forever 90+ degrees and sunny in LA 🥴☀️🙃
